Festival of Lights

Today, dawned by Diwali (The Festival of Lights) bringing home the happiness, fortunes and the best wishes from your dear and near ones.

Be aware of conserving the environment against sound pollution and air pollution against smoke and toxins from crackers. Already the environment has been engulfed with various disease borne germs and other organisms. Additionally we have pollution from vehicles, dust and stinking, uncovered, public bins at almost all road ends where the waste overflowing and littering outside inviting flies and stray dogs.

It is important to take some steps to ensure that we don’t harm the environment by creating noise and air pollution. Also, it is equally important to take some precautions to avoid any sort of injury. Inhalation of the smoke created by toxic chemicals used in fire crackers can cause respiratory diseases that are more likely to attack younger children than the adults. Parents should supervise and see that their kids are following the safety rules and do not get over excited and take proper precautions to avoid any injuries. Most common noticed is that crackers are burst very close to our body. Burnt leftovers are sometimes stepped over and going to near to see whether the cracker is lit or not. We should not subject ourselves more to such environment. Preferably stay at home to avoid such interactions with such an environment. If it is unavoidable, scarf or a mask over your face to protect from noise and smoke. Citizens should understand and try to minimize the crackers demands to protect the environment. They should teach their kids, the rights and wrongs, pros and cons of the crackers usage. Instead children should come together, play games, enjoy in a different way and discuss and act on conserving the sinking environment. The spirit of joy and happiness during festivals can be experienced without creating noise and air pollution. Bursting of firecrackers during Diwali, especially those with high intensity sounds can be harmful and lead to disoriented hearing ability.Bursting crackers not only imposes problems to our health, it also is hazardous to  other living creatures such as animals, birds, trees and plants too. We should care about them also.

Diwali is a festival of sweets too. Sweets are exchanged between neighbors  friends and relatives. If guests arrive, they are treated with sweets, not one but variety of sweets. We should have a control over this and avoid eating too much as this can lead to indigestion, acidity or any other related complexity. These items are heavy in fat and increase your fat content and cholesterol. Eating too much regularly or irregularly can disturb your regular meal habits. Diabetic patients are the persons who suffer the most. Old, weak and the obese should be careful as such food stuffs are difficult to digest. Most of the items are nowadays available in the market and people purchase ready made foodstuffs from outside to save preparation time. The quality of ingredients used in such items is unknown. It is better to make less amount of sweet stuffs controlling the sweetness, oil and other ingredients such as Maida, beasan etc. We should be bent on consuming healthy food that will give strength and also enjoyment. During this festive season, let us reduce our visits to the doctor. Let them too enjoy Diwali without us.

Please let us spread the message of celebrating of a safe Diwali.
